About the Area

CARRUM DOWNS / SKYE

Carrum Downs is a suburb within the City of Frankston and is located 7kms to the north of the Frankston CBD. It was originally a rural area and was first established as a new residential development in the late 70’s, early 80’s.

Since those early beginnings Carrum Downs has grown to around 8000 homes and is continuing to develop. It incorporates three supermarket shopping centre complexes, three State Primary Schools, a Catholic Primary, State Secondary College and a Primary / Secondary Christian College. The area is well serviced by several bus routes connecting with Frankston, Dandenong and Seaford. Apart from proximity to Frankston CBD, it is within easy reach of major trading hubs at Dandenong and Cranbourne.

Skye is a more recently developed area which adjoins Carrum Downs to the east. The Skye residential area borders the environmentally protected Green Wedge zone. Many of the more recently built, larger home in the area have been built in Skye. In addition the recently developed Sandhurst project with prestige residential locations constructed around two internationally acclaimed golf courses has added to the general desirability of the area.

SEAFORD

To the west of Carrum Downs and bordering Port Phillip Bay, the historic beachside suburb of Seaford has long been a favourite destination. Seaford beach is one of Victoria’s best kept secrets. Parts of the Seaford redsidential area were established as much as 50 years ago at a time when residential properties were often constructed on the legendary "quarter acre block". As a result Seaford is undergoing something of a redevelopment and many new homes are joining the established properties characteristic of the area. The proximity of the sea, the existence of the heritage listed wetlands and the proliferation of well established homes makes Seaford a very desirable residential location.

The opening of Eastlink which has its southern extremity in Seaford has significantly impacted on access to and from the area. With direct links to Melbourne’s freeway network this major development has enhanced the residential desirability of the suburb. It has also contributed to the emergence of a much expanded commercial/light industrial area between Seaford and Carrum Downs. With construction now underway on the new Frankston By-Pass, Seaford and Carrum Downs could hardly be better placed for future development and growth.

Frankston North located between Frankston, Carrum Downs and Seaford, is continuing to experience very significant growth in property values and residential properties in this area are always in demand.
